Why is mentoring important? Our community’s future rests on the hopes and dreams of our children and youth. At Kinship Partners we believe that every child deserves a responsible and concerned adult who will provide guidance and support, help set and accomplish goals, and act as a positive role model.
Our youth mentoring program encourages the healthy development of children by creating a support system that welcomes at-risk children to be a part of the Kinship Partners family through community-based mentoring, school-based mentoring, social activities and service-learning opportunities.
We match volunteer adult partners (mentors), with a child between the ages of 5 – 14, who has common interests; we provide monthly activities which help to foster the development of their friendship.
Kinship Partner mentors can be individuals, couple or families.
A mentor is a trusted adult friend with a long-term, consistent commitment to providing guidance and support to youth. It’s all about being friends, sharing common interests, and being exposed to new interests.
