We are pleased to announce Kinship Partners will be hosting its 31st Annual Taste of the Lakes on Friday, November 15, 2019, at Grandview Lodge in Nisswa. Come and celebrate with your friends, family, and co-workers at this gourmet dining event and help support Kinship Partners.

The premier chefs will provide an evening of gourmet tastes and the samples of wine and beer contribute to making this a very special occasion.  Along with a silent auction, it is an “eat a little, drink a little, bid a little…” evening of merriment for everyone!  All proceeds benefit the Kinship Partners youth mentoring programs.

While you are enjoying the wine and beer tasting time (5:30 pm-7:00 pm) professional chef/judges will be sampling the evening’s dishes to determine the award winners from the following categories: starter (appetizer, soup, or salad), entrée, and dessert.

Then at 7:00 pm, as our guest, you will enter the dining room and “Taste” the samples provided by area chefs and caterers. In addition, you will vote for your favorite which will determine the People’s Choice Award.


Kinship Partners would also like to recognize the Mills Automotive Group for their generous $5,000 matching challenge donation at Taste of the Lakes.  Because of the Mills Automotive Group’s donor challenge Kinship Partners was able to raise an additional $5,125 to support our Lunch Buddies school-based mentoring programs.


2018 Chef Winners Announced

Guest culinary judges Chef Christopher Dwyer, Director of Food & Beverage at Crowne Plaza Hotel Minneapolis and Chef Thomas Kavanaugh, Chef Consultant, Personal Chef and Co-Owner of Kavanaugh’s Sylvan Lake Resort presented awards in each of the categories.

The winner for Best Starter was presented to Executive Chef Brian Nieman from Izatys Resort for their Turkey & Butternut Squash Tortilla Soup.

The award for Best Entrée was presented to Chefs Tim Eizenhoefer, Shawn Farber, Jason Borg, Brandon Walin. and Arthur Kilmer from Grand View Lodge for their Caribbean Pork Tenderloin, Charred Pineapple Salsa, Toasted Coconut Rice.

The award for Best Dessert was presented to Executive Chef Tom Johnson from Antlers-Marina II for Breezy Point’s Billy Fawcett Campfire S’more

The traveling People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by the guests in attendance, was presented to Izatys Resort for their Starter – Turkey & Butternut Squash Tortilla Soup, Entrée – Korean Braised Beef Short Ribs with Kimchi Mashed Potatoes and Dessert – Poached Pear & Mascarpone.  Executive Chef Brian Nieman and Pastry Chef Rachel Smith from Izatys Resort accepted the award from the 2017 winner, Grand View Lodge.

Join a Kinship Partners event committee
Kinship Partners events are run by volunteer committees who work closely with our Events Coordinator. Volunteering on an event committee is a great way to support and get to know Kinship Partners, especially if you don’t think volunteering as a mentor is right for you at this time.
